Overview

Research

Huntsman Cancer Institute Summer Interns are selected from a pool of candidates who are either currently enrolled at a university or college as a sophomore, junior, or senior or recent graduates who have not begun graduate or medical studies. A strong commitment to biomedical research is a selection criteria. Students are expected to have earned a 3.5 or better cumulative grade point average. Preference will be given to students in higher semesters.

Each participant will be part of an ongoing project in his or her mentor's laboratory at HCI. They will be expected to work on a full-time basis and participate in weekly seminars, which facilitate interaction among students. The weekly seminars are now held together with the summer interns from the Utah Summer Undergraduate Research Program (USURP; www.utah.edu/usurp). At the end of the internship, each student will summarize his or her research in an oral presentation open to all members of the University of Utah and HCI.
