Brad Rockwell, MD, plastic surgeon and chief of the Division of Plastic Surgery at the University of Utah School of Medicine, has expertise in microsurgery, hand surgery, and reconstruction following breast cancer and sarcoma surgeries. He is a multidisciplinary clinic faculty member at Huntsman Cancer Institute.

Reconstructive surgery often serves as an important complement to the surgical removal of a tumor. In some cases, such as breast cancer, reconstructive surgery has a significant cosmetic impact, improving the patient's self-image and sense of well-being. In other cases, including neck and head cancers, reconstructive surgery contributes to restored functioning. In his reconstructive work with sarcoma and breast cancer patients, Rockwell uses the most innovative techniques; he also teaches these techniques to medical students.

Before joining the University of Utah in 1992, Rockwell taught plastic surgery and orthopedics at the University of Rochester School of Medicine in Rochester, New York, and pathology at Harvard Medical School. He graduated from Harvard University in 1980 and then obtained his MD in 1984 from Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, Missouri. In addition to teaching at medical schools, Rockwell has instructed at the undergraduate and graduate levels. A frequent workshop presenter, he has published extensively and maintains considerable administrative abilities. In 2002-2003, Rockwell served as president of the Utah State Plastic Surgery Society.
