Lee Ellington, PhD, is an associate professor in the College of Nursing at the University of Utah, a clinical psychologist, and a member of the Cancer Control and Population Sciences Program at Huntsman Cancer Institute.

Her program of research is in interpersonal health communication and expression of emotion in the medical setting. She is particularly interested in how communication between the patient/family and provider is associated with attitudes, decision making, adherence, adjustment and clinical outcomes for cancer patients. She has conducted research in a variety of contexts including genetic counseling, home-based hospice care, telephone health care and laboratory simulations of health care interactions.

Ellington received a bachelors degree from the University of Cincinnati and her doctorate from the University of Utah. She completed a Post Doctoral Fellowship from a joint program with the University of Utah Counseling Center and the Department of Family and Preventive Medicine.
