Summary

The Survey Methods and Data Collection Resource (SMDCR) supports Cancer Center investigators who are designing and carrying out research using questionnaires, interviews, and surveys to collect data from study participants. During the planning phase of a research project, SMDCR staff provide expert assistance with developing methods for data collection that include: identifying study subjects; recruitment of eligible subjects; questionnaire design and administration; interviewer training; and data collection management. SMDCR staff assists investigators with developing a budget for recruitment and data collection activities. During implementation of a funded research project, SMDCR staff provide support for: training study staff in subject recruitment and interviewing; maintaining high response rates; setting up and maintaining electronic databases; data entry; implementing quality assurance and control procedures for interviewing and data entry; and data editing.
