The Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Division sees patients at Primary Children’s Medical Center, a 240 bed state-of-the-art tertiary care pediatric hospital. We are the only major children’s hospital between Denver and California, and so see patients referred from a multi-state area. We have busy inpatient and outpatient services, with over 7000 outpatient hem/onc clinic visits per year. Primary Children’s Medical Center is located on the campus of the University of Utah School of Medicine, facilitating easy access to research laboratories, School of Medicine seminars, and Huntsman Cancer Institute.

Programs within the division include multidisciplinary sarcoma, neuro-oncology, hemophilia and thrombophilia teams. Support staff includes three nurse practitioners, as well as child life, social work, nutrition and pharmacy practitioners.

The outpatient clinic has around 7000 visits per year, while our newly renovated state-of the art inpatient oncology unit (the Immuno-compromised service, ICS) has 24 rooms used by oncology, bone marrow transplant, and solid organ transplant patients.

There is a close working relationship between the Division of Hematology and Oncology and the surgical, pediatric, radiology, and pathology staffs. This relationship includes patient care, lectures, and multi-disciplinary conferences.
