Dennis C. Shrieve, MD, PhD

Leader, Brain Tumor Program, Huntsman Cancer Institute
Professor and Chair, Department of Radiation Oncology

Dennis Shrieve, MD, PhD, is the Rudolph S. and Edna Reese Research Professor in Radiation Oncology and professor and chair of the Department of Radiation Oncology at the University of Utah School of Medicine. He leads the Brain Tumor Program at Huntsman Cancer Institute (HCI) and is a member of HCI’s Imaging, Diagnostics, and Therapeutics Program.

Shrieve is board certified by the American Board of Radiology in Radiation Oncology and has primary clinical research interests in adult and pediatric neuro-oncology, pediatric radiation oncology, and stereotactic radiotherapy. His basic research interests include intrinsic radiosensitivity of human tumors, the mechanisms of intrinsic cellular resistance to radiation and chemotherapy, and combined chemotherapy/radiotherapy.

Shrieve serves on the Board of Trustees of the American Board of Radiology and is currently president of the International Stereotactic Radiosurgery Society.

Shrieve received an MD from the University of Miami and a PhD in radiation biophysics from the University of California, Berkeley. He served on the faculties of the University of California, San Francisco, and Harvard Medical School before coming to the University of Utah.
