Post Doc Opportunities
A number of novel and exciting projects are available for incoming post-docs.
The research environment here at the Huntsman Cancer Institute and throughout
the University campus is excellent. Cutting edge seminars by local researchers
and invited speakers are held on a daily basis. There is a very strong
environment for genetic research, which greatly facilitates translation
of findings in model organisms to human diseases.
For our zebrafish work, we share our brand new facility with six other
groups working on such diverse topics such as axon guidance (Chien),
wnt signaling (Dorsky),
T-Box genes (Grunwald),
olfaction (Michels), arch development and lateral line (Piotrowski),
and left-right patterning (Yost).
There is a wonderfully collegial atmosphere between our groups, where
we exchange reagents freely, share equipment, and have bi-weekly plenary
meetings with presentation of research-in-progress.
Our lab space is part of an open lab, with Joe Yost’s lab as a direct
neighbor. We share lab equipment (e.g. in-situ robot), and interact constantly
with members of his lab. There are approximately 30 post-docs at the Huntsman,
which provides an active and stimulating research environment. Weekly
research-in-progress meetings are a great forum for open exchange of ideas.
