Specializing in lung, esophagus, mediastinum, trachea and chest wall tumors

If you or someone you know has been diagnosed with cancer, you will need to learn as much as you can about the disease, its stages, and approaches to treatment. The Thoracic Oncology Program, a cooperative endeavor between Huntsman Cancer Institute and the University of Utah Health Sciences Center, offers consultation, diagnosis, and treatment for all chest cancers. The program’s multidisciplinary team of specialists, including thoracic surgeons, medical oncologists, pulmonologists, pathologists, radiation oncologists and radiologists, provides consultations along with diagnostic and therapeutic services to patients with tumors involving the lungs, esophagus, chest wall, trachea, mediastinum, and heart.

Treatments are individualized for each patient and may include one or a combination of the following:
• surgery
• radiation (also called radiotherapy)
• chemotherapy
• clinical trial participation
