Facilitated by trained social workers, this group helps participants manage stress. The process teaches how to release negative thoughts and physical tension, promoting healthier functioning and improved quality of life. The group is open to patients with any type of cancer. Patients may also bring a loved one. Pre-registration is required. For more information or to register, contact the Wellness Center at (801) 587-4585. View the brochure.

Huntsman Cancer Institute patients can learn techniques scientifically shown to reduce stress. This is a free private consultation to help patients with:

  • Guided imagery and visualization
  • Controlled breathing
  • Moment-to-moment awareness
  • Mindfulness Meditation
  • Self-hypnosis

Licensed clinical social workers teach these techniques at no charge. No sign-up is required. For dates, times, location, and other information, please call the Robert B. and Linda B. Wiggins Wellness Center at (801) 587-4585.

Woman to Woman Group

Available to women who are presently dealing with or have dealt with some form of gynecological cancer, this group promotes healing in a safe environment. Women can share their stories, celebrate successes, encourage others facing a new challenge, process concerns and feelings, learn from each other, improve coping strategies, and receive information, support, and validation for their unique journeys with cancer. There are also opportunities to raise awareness of gynecological cancers. This open-enrollment group is held the first Wednesday of each month in the fourth floor conference room (4 South) at Huntsman Cancer Institute from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Facilitated by Lynne Carlquist, LCSW and Nancy Swanson, RN. For more information call Lynne Carlquist at (801) 587-9208.
