Lauren Shih
Lab Aide, Stanford College
Lauren is a recent graduate from the Waterford School; she came to the lab in June 2007 through a summer science program for high school students seeking an introduction to research. After spending her summer in the lab she decided stay on as a part time Lab Aide. Most of Lauren's time is spent working on the leukemia screen project. When away from lab Lauren spends her time pulling espresso shots at a local coffee house, spiking volleyballs and preparing herself for life at Stanford in the fall. |

Ankita Minhas
Visiting Graduate Student, University of Hannover, Germany
Ankita is originally from New Delhi, India, and is a graduate student in Germany at the the Hannover Biomedical Research School in the lab of Professor Christoph Klein (he and Nick are old friends from fellowship in Heme/Onc in Boston). She is currently with the Trede Lab as a visiting student to build a collaboration between the two labs. Her work examines the effect on neutrophils of knocking down genes responsible for neutropenia. When not in lab, she enjoys singing, talking, cooking, watching movies, and making friends. |

Fangda Jiang
Lab Aide, Duke University College
Fangda Jiang is a recent member of the Trede lab, having joined in June 2008. Fangda is currently a member of the class of 2009 at Skyline High School where he enjoys studying chemistry and history. He aspires to become a physician in the future. He enjoys outdoor activities such as hiking and fishing. He is also an avid piano instrumentalist having played piano since he was eight years old. |

Tammy is a 3rd year MDPhD student in the Weyrich lab in HMBG. Her collaboration with the Trede lab on a project looking at zebrafish thrombocytes will hopefully provide new insights into the function of Pdcd6. When not in the lab, Tammy enjoys taking her dogs for hikes in the mountains and desert and rock climbing. |

Ali Sanati-Mehrizy
Lab Aide, Penn State Medical School
Ali recently graduated from the University of Utah, having received Bachelor of Science with Honors degree in biology as well as a minor in chemistry. He joined the Trede lab two years ago and has done significant work with small molecule screening culminating in an honor’s thesis. This summer, he is off to Pennsylvania to begin his first year of medical school at Penn State University, eventually hoping to become a pediatric oncologist. In the little spare time that Ali has, he enjoys skiing, soccer, and ultimate frisbee. He also has a passion for traveling: his favorite destination is the Hawaiian Islands.
