The University of Utah's Huntsman Cancer Institute is a National Cancer Institute designated cancer center.

The Cancer Center Support Grant (CCSG) from the National Cancer Institute supports cancer research at the University of Utah performed by over 135 members of the cancer center. The purpose of this grant is to promote scientific excellence through coordinated, broad-based interdisciplinary programs and to support state-of-the-art shared research resources.

Established Cancer Center research programs include Nuclear Control of Cell Growth and Differentiation; Cell Response and Regulation; Molecular Imaging, Diagnostics, and Therapeutics; Gastrointestinal Cancers; and Cancer Control and Population Sciences.
