We are interested in chromosome dynamics. We want to know
how genes are packaged and unpackaged, how chromatin
structure regulates gene transcription, and how chromatin
misregulation contributes to cancer. We purify large
protein complexes that use ATP hydrolysis or acetylation
to remodel chromosomal structure, and characterize their
functions by reconstituting chromatin remodeling in vitro.
We also apply genetic and genomic (DNA microarray) methods
to understand their functions in vivo in yeast and human
cells.
