Homologous Recombination-Transgenic Core Facility

This core includes a micro-injection/surgery room, pathogen-free animal rooms, a tissue culture facility, and a molecular biology laboratory. It offers technical assistance for blastocyst injection procedures, maintains all transgenic mouse colonies in an isolated section of the Vivarium, and makes available the technology of targeted gene disruption. The core maintains a full complement of genomic libraries, selectable markers, and bacterial and phage vectors required for gene modification in mouse embryonic stem cells and other rodent and human cultured cell lines. The core also provides embryonic stem cell manipulation services and technical advice. The core directors are Dr. Suzanne Mansour and Dr. Kirk Thomas.
