Biomolecular NMR Core Facility

High-field NMR spectrometers are located both in the Health Sciences Center and in the Department of Chemistry on the undergraduate University of Utah campus. The Health Sciences Center has just obtained a new 600 MHz instrument. Many instruments operating at 200 and 300 MHz are available for the routine analysis of synthetic products and for structural determinations of small molecules. In addition, the Department of Chemistry has three Varian 500 MHz spectrometers, and the Health Sciences Center houses a Varian 500 MHz spectrometer. These high-field instruments have triple resonance and pulsed-field gradient capabilities and are ideally configured for determining three-dimensional structures of proteins and nucleic acids. The core director is Dr. Darrell Davis.
