The Huntsman Online Patient Education (HOPE) Guide is a free web resource provided by Huntsman Cancer Institute (HCI) for anyone seeking cancer information. It offers access to thousands of cancer-related resources, including the following:
The HOPE Guide is owned and operated by HCI, which is part of the University of Utah. The HOPE Guide administrator is a trained cancer information specialist dedicated to selecting and maintaining information in the Guide. The administrator works with web developers and health professionals at HCI to create the optimum online cancer information resource.
The HOPE Guide is an information resource only and is not intended to be a substitute for guidance or instruction from medical professionals. Patients are strongly advised to consult their health care providers regarding questions of diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up care.
Our Patient Education Steering Committee is a multidisciplinary team that reviews and approves HCI-published patient education materials found in the HOPE Guide. Its members include physicians, nurse managers, nurse practitioners, nurse educators, social workers, health educators, clinic managers, and web and print communications specialists. The committee also includes patient representatives. The committee meets on a monthly basis to achieve the following goals:
1. Standardize patient education materials offered to HCI patients.The HOPE Guide does not offer advertising opportunities. It does not serve as a platform to promote or advertise for-profit products, services, businesses, or websites, even if they are cancer-related. Funding for the HOPE Guide is entirely provided by Huntsman Cancer Institute.
